Every Detail About Meghan Markle's Lawsuit for Everyone Who Is Extremely Confused

Meghan Markle may have suffered a huge blow before her trial against Associated Newspapers even began, but her camp made it clear that she and Prince Harry aren’t backing down. Since this case will continue to linger for the foreseeable future, you’re going to want to read up on all the details about the case. Spoiler: it has loads to do with Meghan’s tense relationship with her estranged father, Thomas Markle, the texts they exchanged before her wedding, and the edited private letter that the Daily Mail published.

Sometime in August 2018

Meghan sends a 5-page letter to her father, which will later become the center of a lengthy legal battle between the royals and Associated Newspapers, the publisher of UK tabloids Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday.

December 17, 2018

Thomas continues to be a pain in the royal family’s side and claims he texts Meghan every day but she’s “ghosting” him. He told ITV, “For that incident I’ve apologized 100 times—I don’t feel that’s worthy of being shunned or ghosted, that’s ridiculous.” Sure, Jan.

February 10, 2019

And so it begins. The Daily Mail got its hands on the letter Meghan sent to Thomas and published it in all its edited glory. (Meghan would later say it was an attempt at making her look bad.) Here’s a little sample of what the outlet published:

On top of publishing this, the Daily Mail also enlisted a “handwriting expert,” who claimed Meghan’s letter suggested she was ‘ultra cautious,” a “showman and a narcissist,” “materially motivated,” and “a consummate performer and strategist.”

As a totally objective outsider with absolutely no personal interest in the matter, those sound like fighting words.

February 23, 2019

Meghan threatens to sue “under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act for publishing a private letter she sent to her father.” According to The Guardian, Meghan’s reps have “been in touch” with the outlet since the publication of the letter.

Lawsuit coming in 3…2…

October 1, 2019

It’s official. Meghan and Harry are suing Associated Newspapers. In a lengthy statement on the official Sussex website, Harry wrote:

When the lawsuit was filed, the Sussexs’ reps from Schillings law firm stated the outlet’s choice to publish the letter was “intrusive and unlawful” and part of “a campaign by this media group to publish false and deliberately derogatory stories about her, as well as her husband.”

Formally, they’re suing for “breach of privacy,” copyright violations, and “the aforementioned media agenda.”

October 4, 2019

Not to be confused with the letter case, Harry files a separate lawsuit. This time, he’s going after New Group Newspapers (publishers of The Sun, the Daily Mirror, and the defunct News of the World) for allegedly hacking their phones.

In short: Their lawyers are b-u-s-y.

ITV’s @tombradby spoke to Meghan as he gained exclusive access to the royal couple as they toured Africa for 10 days with their son Archie.

The documentary, Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, airs on Sunday at 9pm on @ITV #HarryandMeghan https://t.co/Uy21iE6ozJ pic.twitter.com/XYlHVytiHF

November 15, 2019

More details about the court documents surface, and it’s clear Meghan has a lot to be upset about. In addition to providing her perspective on her relationship with her dad, Meghan’s lawyers refute several rumors about her within the lawsuit.

Remember when the outlets claimed she was indirectly supporting murder because she likes avocados? She begs to differ. And remember when everyone thought she constructed an entire yoga studio in the palace? Fake news. And as for her upbringing, she is not from “gang-scarred” Compton, contrary to what the outlets published.

January 15, 2020

As Associated Newspapers claim the royals “rely on publicity about themselves and their lives in order to maintain the privileged positions they hold and promote themselves,” and therefore would deny any wrongdoing in the lawsuit, it becomes clear Thomas may be called to testify. Clinging to relevancy (sorry, but it’s true!), Samantha Markle made sure to comment on this matter and said that her dad would cooperate if the court needs him to speak about the evidence used in the case.

April 20, 2020

As both legal teams gear up for the pre-trial hearing, everyone discovers that Meghan learned of her dad’s alleged heart attack through the news. Several outlets publish the texts she and Harry sent to her dad leading up to the wedding and after his health scare, and they’re so heartbreaking.

When it became apparent that Thomas staged those infamous paparazzi photos and wouldn’t be attending their wedding, Meghan and Harry texted him several times. These are just a couple of the texts from Harry:

And after Thomas suffered from a (possibly fake) heart attack, Meghan texted him:

When she didn’t hear back, Meghan texted Thomas telling him that she and Harry ultimately decided to send their security team to make sure he is safe. And days before their wedding, she sent another saying, “I’ve called and texted but haven’t heard back from you so hoping you’re okay.”

April 24, 2020

Because of the ongoing pandemic, the court hearing is taking place remotely, and Meghan had to call into the first proceeding from her current residence in Los Angeles. This first hearing is the “strike-out hearing,” which means Justice Mark Warby will decide whether or not he will “strike out” Meghan’s allegations that the outlets engaged in “improper conduct.”

April 25, 2020

Ugh, now Meghan’s friends might be called to testify. Apparently Associated Newspapers claimed Meghan compromised her own privacy when she allegedly allowed five friends to “leak details about the letter” to People magazine before the Daily Mail actually published excerpts.

Meghan’s team denied this, of course, and claimed she “did not know that her friends were giving an interview to People magazine, let alone that one of them would refer to the letter.”

May 1, 2020

Meghan received a major blow to her case. The judge sided with Associated Newspapers after the pre-trial hearing and struck out Meghan’s claim that the outlets “acted dishonestly and in bad faith,” “deliberately dug up or stirred up conflict between Meghan and her father,” and had an “obvious agenda of publishing intrusive or offensive stories about [her] intended to portray her in a false and damaging light.”

Though this is a disappointing start for Meghan, her counsel, who previously represented Princess Diana, won’t be “deterred from continuing with the case.”

A trial date has yet to be set, but once there’s an update in this testy case, you can find it right here.

Service Dog Scores Adorable Yearbook Photo Next to the Kindergartner She Cares for

Lange cautions that a service dog, while a tremendous help, isn't just an easy fix to a medical problem. "Ariel hasn't made our life any easier — it's very hard to adapt and transition," Lange — who also shares daughters Hannah, 15, and Heidi, almost 2, with husband Jason — explains. "We have a different family dynamic than we used to have. But our life is better with her, our daughter's life is better and our family life is better."

Ariel's presence has even encouraged Lange to launch a nonprofit that helps other families looking for service dogs for children with seizure disorders.

"Anyone can order a service dog vest off Amazon and put it on a dog — there are lots of scams out there and so many people have lost a lot of money," Lange says. "It's been my intention all along to give back to our community and help other families, so no one has to feel as helpless as I did. I'm just a mom in Kentucky trying to find the good in such an ugly disease."

Ariel's yearbook photo definitely helped Lange find a glimmer of good, too. "It's a global message of inclusivity, that it's okay that not everybody looks the same or learns the same," she says. "We all need that smile right now."

Tommy and Georgia have been together after meeting in 2014, and they moved into their own lavish pad in Essex a couple of years ago.

Georgia left her parents country mansion for her own place alongside her boyfriend, who runs his own successful company Mallet Footwear which is thought to be worth more than £2.5m.

It looks like Tommy has taken a leaf out of Kanye West's book and stores his supplies in his spacious garage, as Georgia posed in front of the endless shelves of shoes.

Elsewhere Georgia's favourite spot for a stylish selfie appears to be in her dressing room, which is stocked full of her own designer shoe collection.

A large full length mirror hangs on the opposite wall with her shoes and bag acting as the perfect backdrop.

She also has the perfect dressing table with a mirror lit with large light bulbs so that she get her make-up spot on.

There's a stunning spiral staircase with a wrought iron banister leading from the front of the house up to the landing.

It's a picture perfect spot for Georgia to pose in her outfits, as the stone staircase is bathed in natural light from the huge window at the top and the incredibly intricate gold chandelier taking centre stage of the hallway.

In one of the living rooms Georgia and Tommy had help from homeware brand Wayfair to deck out the space in light grey with accents of pink.

Georgia joked how she had made the place girly with her pink ornaments when she shared a picture of their mini bar decorated with pink roses and pink martini glasses as well as a furry pink stool.

"Loving my pink little touches around my house my house is so girly sorry @tommy_mallet," she wrote.

In another one of their lounges the couple have a crushed silver velvet sofas big enough to fit several people on, which Georgia loves when she invites her friends over for girls night in.

Georgia has also shown a glimpse inside one of their bedrooms, which is decorated in a monochrome theme, with a graphic print rug and a black framed bed.

The bathroom is a simple space with the walls tiled all in white and there's also room for a bathtub.

They have plenty of space for their dog Monkey to run around, and also have comfy furniture to recline on and a table when eating outside.

Tommy also has an office in their home which is decorated in a simple white colour, with a 'Mallett' barcode hanging on the wall and a wooden desk engraved with his surname.

And explaining about why he hasn't popped the question, Tommy added: "Obviously having kids and engagement is on the cards.

"I feel like I've been asked so many times and seen so many headlines about it though I do actually think I don't want to do it yet – I'm not getting pressured into such a big thing – I want to have a few houses by the time Georgia's pregnant. I'm not being pressured into it."

Paul Banks' New Band Muzz Play a Museum Gig in 'Knuckleduster' Clip

Muzz, the new band fronted by Interpol’s Paul Banks, perform underneath a museum in the video for their new single “Knuckleduster.”

The song is brighter and more reminiscent of Banks’ alt-rock roots than Muzz’s prior singles, and the visual, shot in the basement of the American Treasure Tour Museum near Philadelphia, is a masterclass in how to dynamically film a rock band performance.

Starting off with some solid drum work by Matt Barrick (of the Walkmen, Jonathan Fire*Eater and Fleet Foxes’ touring band), the clip intercuts his performance with the band running down a long, industrial hallway toward the camera and their instruments. Barrick is then joined by guitarist Josh Kaufman (producer/multi-instrumentalist of folk group Bonny Light Horseman), and then finally by Banks, who sports a freshly-dyed green head of hair.

“While we were shooting the video for ‘Red Western Sky,’ we discovered this great space underneath the museum. Unplanned, we quickly set up and started filming again — capturing the video for ‘Knuckleduster’ on the same day,” Banks says. “Hair was greener and times were simpler back then.”

Although the three bandmates are long-time friends, and have been recording together as Muzz since 2015, the band officially debuted this past March with the singles “Broken Tambourine” and “Bad Feeling,” and later shared “Red Western Sky.” The band will release their self-titled debut on June 5th via Matador Records.

Nikki Bella Reveals Why She Almost Paused Her Relationship With Artem Chigvintsev

Nikki Bella once offered Artem Chigvintsev the chance to ‘walk away’ from their relationship. She revealed why, and Artem’s response, on the May 27 episode of ‘The Bellas Podcast.’

Artem Chigvintsev didn’t exactly arrive in Nikki Bella’s life at ideal timing, which scared her at first. The retired WWE star revealed that she once gave her dance partner-turned-lover the option to leave their relationship during the May 27 episode of The Bellas Podcast, which she co-hosts with her twin sister Brie Bella. “There were certain things I was struggling with because I was still in the process of healing, but yet I was falling in love so fast with this man,” Nikki said on the podcast. “I had that conversation with Artem. I told him, ‘Look, I have good days and I have bad days and I am trying to heal, but I don’t want to lose you. But if you want to put up with what I’m going through and stay by my side, do it.”

Nikki then offered Artem an out. She recalled telling him, “But if you want to walk away and we come back to this relationship down the road, I 100 percent understand.” As you know, Artem — who’s now expecting his first child with Nikki — didn’t take her up on that offer. “Look, I know you’re going through stuff. You’re healing. I want to be here to support you,” he told Nikki, according to her recollection. Noting how much they’ve progressed since first sparking dating rumors in Jan. 2019, Nikki added, “People don’t know the conversations Artem and I have had, which has helped make us be so strong.”

Nikki defended her choice to fight her initial fears and dive into a serious relationship, soon after ending her engagement with fellow WWE star John Cena in July of 2018. “I feel like it’s hard for someone to understand if they’ve never fallen in love fast. Because it doesn’t happen with everyone, you know what I mean?” Nikki explained on Wednesday’s podcast. “Some relationships, it takes a little bit to fall in love with that person — which is normal and OK — and sometimes you fall in love the minute you see someone or after the first date. That’s OK too. If you’ve been in that situation, you become wishy-washy because you’re fighting so many emotions.”

I love cutoffs 🤤 lol @theartemc If you missed #totalbellas last Thursday head to the @eentertainment On Demand App, your DVRs or @hulu 💋👯‍♀️✨🥂

A post shared by Nikki Bella (@thenikkibella) on

Despite Nikki and Artem’s ups and downs that have been documented on the E! series Total Bellas (Nikki even joked about being “Team Artem” this season), the lovers are excited to welcome their first baby together after breaking the pregnancy news in Jan. 2020. In an amazing coincidence, it turned out that Nikki’s twin sister Brie was pregnant as well!

“[Artem and I are] really excited for the gender reveal for the season finale of Total Bellas, so it’ll be fun to see what people think,” Nikki EXCLUSIVELY told HollywoodLife in May. “I have to find something that goes with a Russian middle name and last name. So it’s very, very difficult, and I don’t want it to be a Russian first name.”

YVR Tries To Make It Work But Finds How ‘Love Is Hard’ On New Song: This Is A ‘More Vulnerable Side Of Us’

Ahead of YVR’s second EP – which promises to be full of ‘raw emotion’ that pushes their songwriting in a new but ‘authentic’ direction – the duo share the struggles of the heart with their new bop, ‘Love Is Hard.’

Falling in love is great – up until that moment when you finally hit the floor, and you realize that it’s not all sunshine and rainbows.  It’s in one of these darker moments that we find YVR’s brand new song, “Love is Hard.” The track, premiering here on HollywoodLife, is an electro-pop bop awash in the neon-light of a revelation: that love isn’t always fun. “You’re pulling on my heartstrings / pushing every button,” sings Courtney Stahl over the beat, composed by the other half of YVR (and her better half) Stephen Stahl. “Even when nothing wrong / we turn it into something / I wanna talk, but I really don’t know how / I love you, but I don’t like you right now.”

After all, if love was easy, there wouldn’t be so many songs about heartbreak. It’s something YVR even addresses on the track: “although it hurts, sometimes I make it worse / cause it makes for better songs.” So, is this how this new song was born? “‘Love Is Hard” was one of those songs that ‘wrote itself,’” the band tells HollywoodLife. “It’s very rare that you begin writing a song, and everything clicks right away – the lyrics, the melody, and the music. The whole song was written within one hour, and we instantly connected with it.”

“Love Is Hard” marks a turning point for YVR in terms of songwriting. They’re about to release the follow-up to their 2019 debut EP, Night Days, and the band tells us that they’re “excited for people to see and hear a more vulnerable side of us.” This sophomore EP is “coming out this summer,” the band tells HollywoodLife, adding that it “goes through the motions of every feeling someone experiences throughout a relationship and the raw emotion that is experienced when a relationship ends. There are always internal and external struggles we may face, and this EP explores it all. We made sure not to leave any detail out. We spent so much time making sure every lyric, melody, instrument, and piece of music was completely authentic to us. Our goal as artists is to be 100% true to ourselves, regardless of what’s popular.”

Long before their 2019 debut, Courtney and Stephen were music industry veterans. Courtney, as Courtney Jenaé, wrote numerous songs for such K-pop acts like TWICE, EXO, Red Velvet, and Amber Lieu. Stephen – aka BUDDRO – worked with acts like Chris Daughtry, Bella Thorne, Taeyeon, E-Girls, and Blasterjaxx. With YVR, these two get a chance to step out from behind the scenes and into the spotlight.

Though the duo has admitted “Love is Hard,”  they acknowledge that they’ve gotten a handle on this whole “life in quarantine” bit. “Right now, it is very easy to feel unmotivated and uninspired,” they tell HollywoodLife. “We have spent time during this quarantine to reflect on what’s most important to us – our family, friends, health, and creative outlets. We’ve been walking around the neighborhood a lot, writing songs, painting, watching comedies, and talking to our friends every day to stay sane. One day at a time!”

Khloé Goes OFF on People Accusing Her of Breaking Social Distancing at Scott Disick's Birthday

Scott Disick recently celebrated his birthday (um, amid breaking up with Sofia Richie), and it looks like the Kardashian family threw him a small “party” at home. Naturally, it took approximately two seconds for fans to criticize them for ignoring social distancing rules in Los Angeles, and Khloé is not having it.

According to The Daily Mail, she hit Instagram’s comments section to shut down people giving her a hard time, saying “we know how they have been quarantined and there’s less than 10 people with us…It’s literally what the governor states is perfectly OK to do in the state of CA.”

She added, “Not even trying to be rude. Drives me wild when people act as if they know. Of course we want to protect ourselves. Simply for the sake of our angels, not to mention our own health. But it’s human nature I guess.’

FYI, Khloé had previously shared a photo of her daughter True to Instagram captioned “Stay safe! Stay smart! Reminder, to keep gatherings small. 10 people maximum. Keep your distance,” so it sounds like she’s taking this whole thing seriously.

Whitney Port Can't Stop Talking About These Blue Light Blocking Glasses

Anyone reading this is looking at a screen right now. That means we’re all feeling the negative effects of blue light in one way or another. But it’s not like we can just eliminate blue light from our lives – not unless we want to run off and seclude ourselves in the deep woods until the end of time. So what can we do?

We may not be able to eliminate blue light, but we can certainly do our best to not let it bother us! That’s why we’re grabbing a pair of these TIJN Blue Light Blocking Glasses, which are openly loved by Whitney Port, who uploaded photos of herself wearing them to her Instagram stories! Their classic design is suitable for any face shape, and with no icky yellow tinting, these may be the cutest glasses we’ll ever own!

See it: Get the TIJN Blue Light Blocking Glasses (originally up to $20) starting at just $17 at Amazon! Please note, prices are accurate at the date of update, June 17, 2019, but are subject to change.

No one will think twice when we’re wearing these fashionable glasses, unless they’re thinking, “Where do I get a pair?” Over 1,000 shoppers so far are gushing about how these glasses have lessened the frequency of their headaches and relaxed their red eyes. They’re calling it a must-have for anyone who sits behind a screen all day, which is practically all of us! Even if we’re just checking our phone from time to time, that counts too.

Blue light exposure may cause eye strain and fatigue, as well as blurred vision, permanent eye damage, poor quality of sleep and, as we mentioned earlier, headaches. Not so fun. No matter how much we dim the brightness on our computer, television or phone screen, these problems still persist. That’s why we need these blue light-filtering glasses.

The lenses of these glasses are non-polarized, so they protect our eyes, but shouldn’t distort what we’re seeing on our screen. They also claim to block ultraviolet radiation, all while adding a stylish accent to any outfit. Want to learn more about just how these lenses work? The glasses come with a blue light test kit so we can see and compare for ourselves!

The plastic frame of these glasses is lightweight, claiming to cause little to no friction against our face, ears and nose. They’re still made to be sturdy, though, with stable metal hinges. The frames come in seven different colors, many of which are translucent for an even more stylish effect!

For the most traditional choice, Black is the way to go. If we prefer no pigment at all, the modern Transparent “shade” is our go-to, as it’s clear all around. For colorful yet translucent shades, we should check out Frosted Green or Clear Pink. Dark Blue Gradient Pink features an ombre-like effect, fading from dark to light. For the biggest pops, we should check out the boldly-patterned Leopard or the bright and vivid Frosted Red!

We wish we owned these glasses back in the day so we could’ve taught our parents a thing or two when they told us to “stop spending so much time on the computer.” Now we can spend as much time on it as we want! The outside world is boring, anyway. Plus, has anyone seen how bright the sun is?
