BBC Breakfast turns awkward as host tells co-star ‘you’ve put me on the spot’

Morning Live host Gethin Jones told BBC Breakfast star Charlie Stayt "you've put me on the spot" after quizzing him about UFOs in Wales live on air.

Charlie was back on the famous red sofa on Thursday (September 28) morning alongside Naga Munchetty and they woke up the nation with the latetst news headlines. As usual, they crossed over to the Morning Live studio during the show to ask hosts Kym Marsh and Gethin Jones what's coming up on their programme.

However, before finding out what's on the agenda, Charlie asked Welsh presenter Gethin a question about a segment about UFOs being spotted in Wales which aired minutes before the crossover. However, Gethin was forced to admit that he and Kym had missed it.

Charlie said: "Morning Live is coming this morning after Breakfast. Kym and Gethin are both there. Gethin, your Welsh so I'm assuming you must have seen that when it happened. I know you weren't born but did you hear stories about it?" He replied: "I'm going to have to be completely honest with you now Charlie because Kym and I were having a bit of a natter before we came on air and we missed what you were talking about."

"Let me help you Gethin OK.," Charlie continued. "So in 1977, school children in Dyfed in Wales saw a space craft coming down, a seven foot tour silver man and a cigar-shaped UFO. They all wintessed this. We saw it in the film. You weren't born then but just wondering if you'd heard anything over the years about UFOs being spotted in Wales."

Gethin replied: "I remember my dad talking about it. You're right, I was born the following year. Your going back to Welsh history Charlie, you've put me on the spot." Charlie asked: 'Was it real Gethin, did it happen?" Gethin answered: "I believe" before turning to co-host Kym and asking her: "Do you believe?". However, the former Corrie actress remained silent.

Conversation later moved on to what viewers can expect from the latest episode of Morning Live and Gethin and Kym ran through what is coming up on the programme.

Elsewhere in the show, Naga was shut down by Strictly dancer Jowita Prystal after she asked an "unfair" question. During their chat, Naga said: "This is probably an unfair question but I'll ask it anyway. How does he compare to how Hamza was in the early days.

Jowita replied: "I cannot compare them because they're two different people and I will never do that. I said it's a new book , new page and we're riding it together and there's no on else there. It's just me and Jodi and I'm focused on Jodi because our journey is now and here just us together."

BBC Breakfast airs daily on BBC One and BBC iPlayer from 6am
