Broadcaster Channel 4 has removed TV episodes that include Russell Brand from its streaming service following allegations of sexual assault.

Some of the removed programming includes Russell's spin-off show Big Brother’s Big Mouth which he presenter in the mid-2000s and 2019's Great Celebrity Bake Off episode in which he was a contestant.

A spokesperson for Channel 4 told The Telegraph: "We’ve taken down all content featuring Russell Brand while we look into the matter."

Russell Brand has denied all claims and branded them "aggressive attacks".

It comes after Downing Street declined to urge broadcasters and streaming platforms such as YouTube and Netflix to take down the stand-up comedian's output.

Discussing the matter, the Prime Minister’s official spokesman said: "It’s a decision for all broadcasters to consider the right approach in light of these very serious allegations.

"They are deeply concerning, they need to be investigated. But I’m not going to dictate the actions of broadcasters or streaming services."

The discussion follows Channel 4 and Sunday Times' joint investigation which revealed claims of sexual assault from four separate women dating back to the height of his fame between 2006 and 2013.

This was at a time when Brand was working for the BBC, Channel 4 and starring in Hollywood films alongside well-known stars.

In the shocking investigation which aired on Saturday night, one of the alleged victims, called Nadia by the outlets to protect her identity, claimed Brand raped her against a wall in 2012 at his Los Angeles home.

Meanwhile another woman has alleged she was sexually assaulted by him while they were in a three-month relationship when she was 16 and still at school.

Following the programme, Channel 4 released a statement which read: "Channel 4 is appalled to learn of these deeply troubling allegations including behaviour alleged to have taken place on programmes made for Channel 4 between 2004 and 2007.

"We are determined to understand the full nature of what went on. We have carried out extensive document searches and have found no evidence to suggest the alleged incidents were brought to the attention of Channel 4.

"We will continue to review this in light of any further information we receive, including the accounts of those affected individuals."

Brand released a video on his YouTube channel to 'absolutely deny' serious allegations he says have been made against him.

The 48-year-old said: "Amidst this litany of astonishing, rather baroque, attacks are some very serious allegations that I absolutely refute."
