Coronation Street’s Carla Connor at war as Underworld’s future at risk

Coronation Street: Tim is attacked by Stephen

Coronation Street’s Carla Connor (played by Alison King) could be set to go to war with the residents of Weatherfield and colleagues of Underworld.

In upcoming scenes, the investigation into Stephen Reid’s (Todd Boyce) crimes continues after he was killed by Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne).

Carla assures her colleagues at Underworld that she intends to fight tooth and nail to save the factory after Stephen stole £250,000.

She reveals she is planning to fly out to Spain in a bid to secure a lucrative deal and try and save the factory from going under.

Beth Tinker (Lisa George), Kirk Sutherland (Andy Whyment) and Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) begin to worry about their wages and their future at Underworld.

Elsewhere, Michael Bailey (Ryan Russell) gets the news that he is losing his job, after being the one to help Stephen steal the money.

What does the future hold for Underworld and will Carla be able to save her career as well as her employees?

Carla actress Alison King recently opened up about the long-term effects of Stephen’s crimes and admitted that the staff of Underworld could turn against her.

Speaking to Express.co.uk and other press, she explained: “She has got answers, the good thing about it is she will have answers about everything that has happened.

“The damage to the factory is whether that is going to be able to be solved or not and what damage that is going to do.

“With Carla, you always get here against the street or the street against her and it is normally surrounding the factory or money and people’s livelihoods.

“They own half that money, so they should be watching out for their own money as much as Carla.”

Ryan Rusell also spoke about Michael losing his job and said: “I think he is just going to be like, ‘I cost Underworld thousands of pounds’.

“And thinking, ‘How am I going to repay them? Is my job going to be in jeopardy?’ And Carla is going to bite his head off so he is scared.

“I think he finally felt like he was progressing in life with his designs, he got promoted, everyone kind of respects him in Underworld.

“So to lose that he will feel like he is back to square one again and the added pressure of being a single dad with Glory so financially it is a lot.”

Is this the end of the road for Underworld?

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
