EastEnders fans ‘work out’ which major character is returning in Cindy twist
EastEnders: Cindy returns to Albert Square
EastEnders bosses have confirmed that another show legend is set to return, and fans are convinced they have guessed their identity.
In the past year, the show has been rocked by the explosive returns of Ian Beale (played by Adam Woodyatt) and his long-lost ex-wife Cindy (Michelle Collins) who had been presumed dead for the past 25 years.
Now fans are convinced that the comeback character is a blast from Cindy’s past who is set to stir things up for her and Ian.
Taking to X formerly known as Twitter , @Yasmin_ali 10 was so excited that she typed in all capitals: “DAVID WICKS OMG I’ll BE SOOO HAPPY.” (sic)
@jennysturgess1 felt the same chiming in: “Please let it be David Wicks.”

A user with the handle @tamlizann25 hedged their bets offering several options: “David Wicks? Cindy Jnr? Gina her sister? #Eastenders,” they wrote. (sic)
Meanwhile, @Only1Chambers threw a spanner in the works suggesting “Simon Wicks”. Simon, who was played by Nick Berry, was David’s brother.
David Wicks, played by Michael French, first appeared on EastEnders as the son of Pat Wicks (Pam St Clement) from December 1993 to November 1996.
He then returned to the show in January 2012 but only stayed a fortnight departing later that month.
Since then, Michael has gone on to appear in both Holby City and Casualty as clinical lead Nick Jordan.

David’s relationship with Cindy is complicated as he had an affair with her while she was married to Ian and is the father of her first child Stephen. Although she left Ian for him, she later returned and Ian raised Stephen as his own.
With that all behind them now, Cindy is keen to put down proper roots in Walford and reunite with her daughters Anna (Molly Rainford) and Gina Knight ( Francesca Henry )and as such she is desperate to start her own business.
Having convinced Ian to buy the empty pawnshop and turn it into a pie-and-mash shop they have struggled to raise the finance to secure the premises.
When they hear there is another interested buyer, Cindy suggests meeting them to try and make a deal much to Ian’s chagrin.
With her so reticent to reveal the identity of the buyer, there is every possibility it is someone she has a romantic history with making David a prime candidate.
EastEnders is on BBC One Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm.
