Hairy Bikers Dave Myers gives health update as he shares sweet gesture
The Hairy Bikers’ Dave Myers shares gratitude for his nurses
Dave Myers has shared a sweet gesture to the people who have cared for him following his cancer diagnosis.
Appearing on Tuesday’s The One Show alongside Hairy Bikers co-star Si King, Dave explained he was still undergoing treatment for cancer as he revealed how he had dedicated recipes in his and Si’s new book to the nurses he had got to know.
The chef’s new book, Ultimate Comfort Food, is about to be released, and host Gabby Logan pointed out: “Dave, you’ve been very open about the cancer treatment you’ve had over the last few years.
“And you’ve actually dedicated the book and some of the recipes to those people who’ve helped you through and cared for you.”
“Oh yeah, I mean I owe these people everything really – or else there wouldn’t have been a book! There wouldn’t be The Hairy Bikers,” Dave replied.

The 66-year-old continued: “Yeah, I have and also it’s funny, I’ve been having treatment, and I’m still having treatment, but I go in for chemo and the nurses come in and talk about food!
“[They’re] from all over the world, so some of the recipes… We work the recipes up but there’s one from a Spanish nurse which is like everyday piaya but it’s with belly pork and black pudding.”
“Did the nurse, she or he, did they make it for you?” Gabby asked.
“No, no but there’s a Filipino nurse, a beautiful lady called Giya, and Giya makes these Filippino noodle dish she brings into the hospital and when I was having trouble eating, she’d bring me the noodles,” Dave shared.
