Inside Cain Dingle actor Jeff Hordley’s real-life marriage to wife Zoe Henry

Emmerdale: Zoe Henry reacts to old photo of Jeff Hordley

Jeff Hordley made his Emmerdale debut as Cain Dingle back in March 2000 when he arrived in the village with Charity Dingle (played by Emma Atkins) for their cousin’s funeral.

The troubled mechanic soon proved he was rotten to the core – often leaving ITV viewers staggered by his vile behaviour. However, his partner Moira Barton (Natalie J Robb) appears to have brought out a softer side to Cain in recent years – although drama still tends to follow him around.

Away from his on-screen wife Moira, actor Jeff is in a relationship with Rhona Goskirk actress Zoe Henry who has been in the Yorkshire-based serial drama since 2001.

The couple rarely cross paths on set as their characters are polar opposites – but in reality, Zoe and Jeff share a life, home and family.

They actually met years before their Emmerdale debuts when they were studying at drama school back in 1994.

Jeff once said: “We met at drama school in 1994. I saw Zoe and realised she was the girl for me.”

Zoe and Jeff got engaged in 2002 following a romantic proposal on the day she won an award for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the Manchester Evening News’s theatre awards.

They tied the knot in August 2023 in a low-key ceremony with their loved ones.

They went on to have two children together, Violet and Stan, who were born in 2005 and 2008 respectively.

Jeff and Zoe reportedly live in a quaint cottage nestled in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales with their children and many pets.

They also grow their own produce on their massive allotment as the duo enjoy gardening and the outdoors.

Jeff has described himself as a “real softie” who adores spending time on the allotment with his family.

Speaking to Express.co.uk last year about working alongside Jeff during her wedding scenes to Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock), Zoe shared: “It’s the day job, that sounds really boring but it is and it’s nice as we got to travel in together and home together.”

“It’s a boring answer but it is just our job, I think sometimes you just dread those long days.

“But as we said, this was actually a really lovely couple of weeks of filming, so it’s nice to see Jeff about really.”

She quipped: “I probably won’t see him for another couple of years unless maybe one of us dies.”

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV and ITVX.
