Lisa Snowdon opens up on Strictly regret as she issues advice to 2023 cast

This Morning: Lisa Snowdon emotional over menopause campaign

Lisa Snowdon has spilled on what she’d change about her Strictly Come Dancing experience if she could.

The This Morning star took part in the sixth series of the BBC dance competition and was paired with former champion Brendan Cole.

Reflecting on her experience, the 51-year-old joked she would now have a glass of wine or a tequila shot before the live show to ease the nerves.

Of her advice to this year’s cast, she told Express.co.uk: “Just have a b****y good time and enjoy it! I used to get very nervous, I think I put too much pressure on myself.

“I mean I did really well, but I think if I could do it again, I would probably have a glass of wine before the show.

“That’s not what I’m telling them to do as, of course, it’s a professional show but I’d think just have a good time, just literally enjoy every minute because it’s such a fun experience.”

Despite her nerves at the time, Lisa wowed viewers and judges with her moves on the dance floor and made it to the final alongside Rachel Stevens and Tom Chambers.

She did however sadly miss out on the Glitterball trophy to actor Tom and his professional partner Camilla Dallerup.

After doing the show, Lisa said she was thrilled with the response she got from the public for being herself, as opposed to being linked to her ex-boyfriend George Clooney.

She told The Guardian: “Before Strictly, I guess that was the biggest thing that happened to me, image-wise.

“It was weird at first, but I understood – he is just so famous.”

For the first time on live television, viewers got to see her “vulnerable” side and find out more about her.

“People could see, yes, she did date George, but she’s human as well, which was lovely.

“But people are still interested in him and I can see why.

“It is quite interesting and exciting, especially for a girl from Welwyn Garden City,” she added.

Lisa Snowdon is urging the public to brush up on their eye health knowledge, as she backs a new educational campaign by eyecare experts, Théa UK.

The ‘Improve Your Eye-Q’ campaign has been developed to raise awareness around the importance of good eye health and how to spot and manage conditions such as Dry Eye Disease.

It will include the ‘What’s your Eye-Q’ quiz to help people measure their own eye health knowledge, find out more here.

Strictly Come Dancing airs Saturday at 6.20pm on BBC One.
