Loose Womens Penny Lancaster arrives on crutches to Geri Halliwells book launch
Penny Lancaster showed her support for her good friend Geri Halliwell, as she attended her book launch on a pair of crutches.
Rod Stewart's wife, 52, was all smiles as she arrived at the Tower Of London, where the event was held, in a statement green suit. She teamed the look with a white blouse, a Gucci bag and Gucci trainers.
The former Loose Women presenter, who holidayed with her family in Marbella in July, has apparently damaged her knee, with a spokesperson telling MailOnline, "Penny has suffered a torn meniscus on her right knee. The cause of the injury is not known; nor at this stage, is the treatment. This will be decided at a later date."
They added that the knee injury wasn't caused by Penny's work as a police special constable – a role that she's previously said makes her "tremendously proud and honoured".
"The injury is believed to have been sustained abroad and is not connected with her activities as a special constable," they said.
The former model, who has children Alastair, 17, and Aiden, 12, with husband Rod, was at the bash on Tuesday 10 October to celebrate Geri's new book, Rosie Frost & The Falcon Queen. The story follows orphan Rosie as she is sent to a mysterious island, which is home to extraordinary teenagers and also a sanctuary for endangered species.
When speaking about her novel last year, Geri, who also recently signed up for CBeebies Bedtime Stories, said she hoped it would inspire young readers to "find their own strength and power".
She added: "Rosie Frost has lived in my heart for a long time and this feels just the right moment to introduce her to the world."
Geri, who looked chic in a cream maxi dress with puff shoulders, already found success with her Ugenia Lavender stories before she signed a two-book deal for her Rosie Frost adventure series.
Also showing their support at the event were fellow Spice Girl Emma Bunton, author Jacqueline Wilson and podcaster Elizabeth Day.
Sharing a glimpse inside the celebration, Geri posted a host of snaps from the night on Instagram, writing, "Thank you so much to everyone who came out to celebrate @rosiefrostfalconqueen at the Tower of London tonight!"
"Congratulations darling @gerihalliwellhorner !!! So proud of all you've achieved! Looking forward to meeting you in 2 weeks!!!!" commented one fan, while another added, "Lovely Geri!!! I'm excited to dive into Rosie Frost's world and have a new hero."
A third added, "Girl!!! You're changing the world!!! Shine queen shine!!!"
