Michael Owen says ‘no way’ to Strictly but admits he’d consider rival series

Ex-England footballer Michael Owen has shunned the prospect of joining Strictly Come Dancing however claims he would give I'm A Celeb a go.

The 43-year-old recently launched his very own clothing collection with fashion brand Peacocks – offering a range of menswear staples and must-haves.

When quizzed on a possible Strictly appearance, he said: "I ain't dancing for anyone. No way, no way! I wouldn't, I couldn't dance."

However, he didn't rule out a chance to follow in the footsteps of football icons such as Ian Wright and Harry Redknapp by appearing on ITV's I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

He continued: "I think I'm A Celebrity has parts of it that I think that would be good fun to do.

"Again it's just the time it takes, and I mean I've worked with a few of the people that have been on it, like Kieron Dyer and Harry Redknapp and people like that amongst others, other people on the show before.

"They've given me a few tips on what's good and what's bad and things like that and what they did like and what they didn't.

"But I don't know, I've sort of looked into it couple of years ago and it didn't work in my diary – but you never know in the future."

Last year Michael, who is also father to Love Island star Gemma Owen, took part in ITV's The Masked Singer.

After he was unmasked as Doughnuts in a double elimination, he told ITV: "I have been approached to do other TV shows but I usually have a busy TV schedule and that has always meant I haven’t been able to or I hadn’t felt like the shows were a good fit.

"I have four children and they have been badgering me to do one and then this opportunity came up. When this opportunity came up I decided to say yes."

The Michael Owen Edit is now available online and across the 340 Peacocks stores nationwide
