Neighbours’ Rosemary Daniels star Joy Chambers-Grundy dies age 76

Neighbours' Rosemary Daniels star Joy Chambers-Grundy has died at the age of 76, and tributes are flooding in for her.

Over the years, Joy played many big names in shows such as The Restless Years, The Young Doctors and of course Neighbours.

A statement released by her family has confirmed that she passed away surrounded by her loved ones.

It reads: "Joy has passed away in her sleep early this morning surrounded by loved ones. Joy will be remembered as a Logie award-winning actress, a best-selling author, a poet, a philanthropist and an exceptional businesswoman who worked alongside her husband to build one of the largest independent production companies in the world."

Tributes have been flooding in for the actress on social media, as one person wrote: "Very sad to hear that Joy Chambers … known to us #Neighbours lovers as the fabulous Rosemary Daniels, has passed away.

"She was such an integral part of @Neighbours DNA as the daughter of original show matriarch Helen Daniels, but also real-life wife of Reg Grundy."

Another said: "How sad that the day before Neighbours returns, one of the iconic cast has passed away. RIP Joy Chambers, aka Rosemary Daniels."

Joy was the second wife of the late Reg Grundy, who died in May 2016 but he is the man who created Neighbours.

The couple tied the knot in 1971 and they stayed together until his death.

In 1969 and 1970, Joy walked away with the Logie Award for Best Female Personality after she starred in her husband's soaps.

Joy made her on-screen debut in Neighbours on 20 February 1986, where she appeared on the famous Ramsay Street playing Rosemary.

During her time on the soap, she appeared in many big storylines, but the biggest was when her character discovered the body of Jim Robinson, who was played by Alan Dale.

Away from her life on screen, she has also written a number of books throughout her career.

Joy was the author of seven historical fiction novels, and they include The Great Deception and None But The Brave.

On her website, Joy introduced her work by saying: "My life is in the entertainment business. A skillfully written book can be read on many levels, but it should always entertain. . . I attempt to do that."
