NSYNC ‘to reunite at VMAs’ as Justin Timberlake spotted with bandmates in NYC

Rumours have been making the rounds for months that *NSYNC are set to reunite, ever since reports said they were releasing a new single for the upcoming trolls film, Trolls Band Together.

However, its five original members – Lance Bass, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick and Justin Timberlake – have kept tied lipped about whether they'll be getting back together.

Until now, it seems…

Every single member of the boyband, known for their hits including Bye Bye Bye, It's Gonna Be Me and Tearin' Up My Heart, has been spotted in New York City ahead of the MTV VMAs tonight.

TMZ confirmed the news today, saying that all five members are currently in New York, which is just miles away from where the VMAs are set to take place at the Prudential Center in New Jersey.

A source told the outlet that "the group will be presenting during the show."

However, while they are not sure if *NSYNC will perform, it has certainly caused a storm online as fans ran to X (Twitter) to gush over how excited they were that 90s band could be reuniting.

When Justin Timberlake was pictured at a New York Jets game, one commented with a laughing face: "Now I know *NSYNC is reuniting at the MTV VMAs, because never in the past 25 years have I seen Justin Timberlake at a random football game. That man prefers basketball. He's just killing time in the area."

Another wrote, "They may not be performing, but at least they're still presenting! Better than not being there at all."

A third said it would be the "first time they watch the VMAs in 10 years" if the rumours are true.

The band achieved worldwide success before breaking up in 2002, with their last song together being Girlfriend, which was released in 2001.

The band have been known to briefly join forces over the years though, and have reunited for numerous special performances and events.

So, when a snippet of a song for the new Trolls movie dropped – where Justin plays Branch, one of the main trolls in the film – fans went crazy.

The third instalment, called Trolls Band Together, will also see JC, Lance, Joey, and Chris have cameos in the film, in which Branch is reuniting with his brothers who he used to be in a band with.

The surprise reunion is hinted at in a trailer, in which a character named Floyd tells Justin’s character: “We’re out of sync.

“We’ve gone from boys to men, and now there’s only one direction for us to go: to the back streets.”
