‘Peter Andre inspired me on I’m A Celeb – then I became his personal trainer’

Depressed and dealing with a divorce, Scott Harrison had hit the lowest of lows. But all that was about to change thanks to a very unlikely encounter.

Switching on his TV, the personal trainer found himself watching Peter Andre talk about how he’d turned his life around and become one of the stand out stars in the 2004 I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle.

Keen to change his own life, Scott followed in Mysterious Girl singer's footsteps and began manifesting a better future. Soon enough, he was in love again, excelling in his fitness career – and even wearing one of Peter’s own rings.

"I would sit in the shower and cry. I remember looking up while in the shower at whatever people look at during those moments, and saying that I just wanted to be happy. It was a really tough time for me," Scott told OK!.

"Then one day I saw Peter on the TV talking about how he’d gone from being one of the most famous pop stars in the 90s to kind of zero, but how he’d gone into the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle and become one of the most famous stars again. He was talking about a book called The Secret by Rhona Byrne and was really raving about it."

Scott decided to give it a go himself, saw opportunities open up in front of him and went on to marry again. After establishing a health and fitness programme, The Six Pack Revolution, seven years ago Peter even became Scott’s first celebrity client after being approached by his PR – though their first meeting five years ago made for a memorable experience.

"When I went around Peter’s house to meet him for the first time, we immediately got on like a house on fire. We were both the same age and he was very interested in fitness. When I went to his house, we put on some boxing gloves and took our rings off," Scott said.

"We had a great time, but when I went home that evening, I was twisting my ring finger and realised that the ring I had on didn’t weigh the same as it normally did. I suddenly realised that it wasn’t my ring. It was Peter’s. Well, it couldn't have been anyone else's ring, so I assumed it was his."

Having realised the error, Scott called up the pop star and returned the ring the next day.

"I told him straight away and said I’d give it back the next day. I was scared to death that I was going to lose it – I’d met him once and it looked like I had stolen his ring on the first meeting.! I went to his house and dropped it off and we met again after that. We still speak now which is which is cool," he continued.

"Peter’s a very nice guy. What you see is what you get. Peter was an amazing client. He pushed himself, I didn’t have to. I remember that I went to the bathroom and when I came back he was still doing more workouts. He was very motivated when it came to fitness."

Since his days of working with Peter, Scott has gone on to help celebrities including Rylan, Sara Cox, Denise Van Outen and Carol Vorderman. Meanwhile, his programme The Six Pack Revolution has helped tens of thousands of people across 77 countries improve their confidence and get into the best shape of their lives.

"If I hadn't watched Peter that day, if I hadn’t had a shower that day, if I hadn’t decided that I wanted to be happy, I might have got to where I am from another direction, but who knows," Scott explained.
