Prince Harry reveals truth behind Meghan Markles stunning tiara fit with late Queen
Prince Harry has spilled the beans about Meghan Markle's tiara fitting with his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, just days before their Royal wedding.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex said "I do" at St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle in May 2018, after a whirlwind romance and quick engagement.
Meghan was a vision in a simple white dress by Clare Waight Keller from French fashion house Givenchy, topped off with a long white veil and a stunning tiara.
There were rumours that the tiara belonged to Princess Diana, and some even suggested Meghan wasn't allowed to wear one of the Royal tiaras.
But Harry has set the record straight, revealing that his grandmother personally lent Meghan a tiara from her own collection.
In his memoir Spare, the 39 year old shared that he and Meghan were moved when his mum's sisters, Lady Jane Fellowes and Lady Sarah McCorquodale, offered to lend them one of Diana's tiaras for their special day.
However, just days before the wedding, the Queen invited Harry and Meghan to Buckingham Palace for a private meeting.
"Shortly before the wedding, however, Granny reached out. She offered us access to her collection of tiaras. She even invited us to Buckingham Palace to try them on. Do come over, I remember her saying," he wrote.
"Extraordinary morning. We walked into Granny's private dressing room, right next to her bedroom, a space I'd never been in. Along with Granny was a jewellery expert, an eminent historian who knew the lineage of each stone in the royal collection. Also present was Granny's dresser and confidante, Angela [Kelly]," Harry explained.
He then revealed the Queen, who sadly passed away in September last year, personally picked out five tiaras from her vault for Meghan to choose from.
"One was all emeralds. One was aquamarines. Each was more dazzlingly stunning than the last," he recalled.
The former Suits star eventually chose an ornate art-deco style tiara for her wedding day, which was given to the Queen's grandmother, Queen Mary, as a wedding present in 1893.
