Zara McDermott ‘can’t breathe’ as boyfriend Sam Thompson wins I’m A Celebrity
Zara McDermott was so excited when her boyfriend Sam Thompson won I’m A Celebrity that she told fans: “I cannot breathe.”
The Strictly Come Dancing beauty tuned in as the Made In Chelsea star triumphed over Nigel Farage and Tony Bellew in the finale of the ITV show, to be crowned King of the Jungle. She could barely contain her excitement after Sam’s best friend Pete Wicks shared a snap of him wearing his jungle crown.
“WHAT IS GOING ON I CANNOT BREATHE,” she wrote in the comments. The star – who has been with Sam since 2019 – added a string of sobbing emojis and a single red heart to her message.

Pete was in Australia to greet Sam when he crossed the treetop bridge to leave camp after winning I’m A Celebrity. Zara had stayed at home in the UK because she had been signed up to the BBC's Strictly, which she was eliminated from earlier in the series.
She explained on Instagram: “Sam thought I was still going to be in Strictly (bless him, the optimism), so Pete cleared his whole diary for two/three weeks to be there."
Zara shared a video on her own Instagram of the moment that Sam was crowned the winner as the final aired on Sunday (December 10). It showed the star and lots of family and friends gathered in a room and glued to the television as the programme aired.
Many looked tense, with their hands on their faces. But when I’m A Celeb hosts Ant and Dec revealed that Sam was the winner they all leapt up and started clapping and cheering. Many hugged each other as they jumped up and down in excitement.
“The moment we all found out… OUR KING OF THE JUNGLE!!!!!!!” Zara captioned the sweet post.
Boxing star Tony came second in the contest and former UKIP leader Nigel came third. This Morning star Josie Gibson was fourth, and the highest placed woman.
