Kate Garraway details husband Derek Draper’s ‘nasty infection’ in health scare
Kate Garraway opens up on new book
Kate Garraway has revealed that her husband Derek Draper has been battling a nasty infection.
The Good Morning Britain host spoke to Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard as she shared the update on her other half.
Since Derek was admitted to hospital back in 2020 after contracting coronavirus, Kate has been caring for her husband at home, as he was left with long-term side effects.
After being put into an induced coma, Derek has been left with clots in his lungs, holes in his heart and is currently unable to walk.
However, it seems as though the family have been dealt another blow, as Kate shared an update on his health.

Speaking to the two hosts, Kate said: “He’s had a nasty infection this week.
“That set him back a bit but we’re on the right side of it, so that’s good.
“There are so many people in the health system trapped in the web of it.
“People are not being taken care of in a system that’s in trouble.”

Since her husband fell ill, Kate has given people an insight into the intense care Derek receives in two ITV documentaries, Finding Derek and Caring for Derek.
Earlier this year, she revealed to the Loose Women panel there would be a third documentary.
Joking that everybody has had enough of her, Kate explained it would be focusing on the careers.
She said: “There are millions of people across the country caring out of love that are keeping our country going.
“We have got to find a way of making caring a priority.”
Earlier this year, Kate was awarded an MBE for services to broadcasting, journalism and charity.
The 56-year-old attended the ceremony at Windsor with Derek proudly watching on from his wheelchair, as the Prince of Wales gave her the MBE.
Good Morning Britain continues weekdays on ITV from 6am
