BBC Strictlys James Jordan brands Ellie and Vitos final dance terrible
Ellie and Vito win Strictly Come Dancing 2023
Despite them becoming the eventual winners of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing, former professional James Jordan has said he thought Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola’s last dance was “terrible”. Ellie, 22, and Vito, 31, attempted a lift in which the actress stood on her partner’s shoulders but unfortunately, the tricky move was not successful.
James, 45, appeared on his HELLO! series and gave his honest opinion on the move that went wrong. He explained: “My heart was in my mouth because I honestly thought he was gonna drop her. I mean, how he saved it, fair play to him. It was a little bit terrible really at the end.
“But having said that, up until that point I was thinking to myself, ‘this is probably the best show dance I’ve ever seen in Strictly history, up until that point.” The pair performed the difficult dance to a Jennifer Lopez megamix but were unable to execute the difficult move.
Even though their final dance did not go to plan, Ellie and Vito still ended up winning the series, beating fellow finalists Bobby Brazier and Layton Williams. The former Coronation Street regular paid tribute to her professional partner and rumoured boyfriend moments after being awarded the Glitterball.
She moved viewers at home with her kind statement about the 31-year-old Italian. “This is for you,” she urged, before reiterating the statement again. Speaking after winning the show, Ellie said: “I actually, genuinely cannot believe this.

“For once, you’re crying more than me,” she told Vito. Talking about their triumph, he continued: “I mean this is like the cherry on the cake.”
Turning to Ellie, he then stated: “You have been so amazing, you are Strictly, you represent Strictly. You are finally, you know, the diamond I was talking [about].”
According to the judges leaderboard on the night, Layton, 29, had been in the lead with a total of 119 points.
Second to them was Bobby, 20, who received 117 points, and they were followed by Ellie with 115 – who took home the trophy with the help of the public vote.
