Lidl Christmas advert 2023 – watch supermarket’s festive campaign here

Lidl promote their toybank in 2023 Christmas advert

Lidl unveiled its new Christmas advert during tonight’s Emmerdale, and the sweet campaign is encouraging its customers to help others this festive season.

At the heart of the clip is an adorable raccoon who goes above and beyond to return a lost toy to a little boy.

It begins with the child upset as a Christmas ornament of a monkey has been broken. His mother sees a stuffed monkey while shopping in Lidl and picks it up for her son.

Unfortunately, as she heads home on her bicycle, she drops it and the only witness is a raccoon who has been scavaging around the store.

He embarks on an epic journey to return to the toy, navigating trains and Christmas shoppers to ensure it gets back to its rightful owner.

However, as he drops the toy back by the family’s Christmas tree, their dog takes umbrage and he is forced to flee and watch from the garden as the delighted young boy finds it waiting for him.

As the family entertain for the festive season the dog realises that the raccoon meant no harm and heads outdoors to join his new friend.

Lidl hopes that the advert will show people what a difference small acts of kindness can make as bosses announce the return of their Toy Bank for 2023.

Customers can drop off new and unopened toys and games to the bank to be distributed to those who may not otherwise receive a gift on Christmas Day.

Last year’s bank saw a phenomenal 80,000 toys given to children who would have gone without.

In another act of generosity, Lidl is also selling plush toys of the raccoon and the monkey featured in the ad, with all proceeds going to Neighbourly.

“At Christmas, there’s nothing more magical than seeing the joy a gift can bring to a child, and we want to help make sure this joy reaches all families,” said Peter de Roos, Chief Commercial Officer at Lidl GB.

“Our hope is that by bringing back the toy donation points we are making it easier, for those customers who can, to donate directly to local good causes by giving them a small way to make a real difference and help those that need it the most.”

Charities, community groups and food banks can register interest now to receive surplus food and toy donations this Christmas at www.neighbourly.com.
