Elaine makes Cindy pay as her cheating with George is discovered in EastEnders

Cindy Beale’s (Michelle Collins) secret kiss with George Knight (Colin Salmon) didn’t stay secret for very long in EastEnders, with disastrous consequences for Cindy.

After their moment was caught by scathing Gina Knight (Francesca Henry), it was only a matter of time before it all blew up, and what better place than in the Queen Vic in front of everyone.

Fed up with the faux niceties and constant sniping between Cindy, Ian (Adam Woodyatt), George and Elaine (Harriet Thorpe), Gina was quick to reveal Cindy and George’s betrayal, leaving their partners’ stunned.

Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) was quick to quip that it hadn’t taken Cindy long to revert back to her old ways, while Ian and Elaine silently fumed.

Upstairs in the Vic kitchen, George explained everything to a shellshocked Elaine, who struggled at first to believe that the kiss had meant nothing to him.

He explained that it had been Cindy who had come onto him, and that he had just wanted to prove that everything she’d said had been a big lie.

Despite clearly feeling rattled, Elaine was able to forgive him when George admitted that it was worth embarrassing Cindy, but not worth bringing pain to her and his daughters, under the one condition that he proved the kiss meant nothing.

Meanwhile, Ian was determined to send Cindy packing, until, in classic Cindy style, she spun a web of lies to convince him of her innocence. She pinned all the blame on George, and soon Ian was falling for it hook, line and sinker.

Determined to put on a united front, Cindy and Ian headed back to the pub to celebrate getting the money from the Marbella bar sale, though it wasn’t going to be all sunshine and roses.

In a bid to prove his loyalty to Elaine, George allowed her to deliver a shocking blow to the Beales.

She delighted in informing them that they would have to look elsewhere for the money for their new business, as they weren’t going to be getting a penny from the sale of the Marbella bar.

When Cindy questioned her, George backed his new fiancé, and declared that he and Rose both had stakes in the business, but seeing as Rose doesn’t actually exist, then Cindy has no right to any of the money.

Furious Cindy was quick to declare that if he wanted a war then he would surely get it, but how far is she prepared to go?
